Best Tip: Improve Health, Your Outlook Attitude, Your Well Being, Your Longevity: Get a Dog.

Cost Is Far Less Then Prescriptions.

Many studies now verify that getting a dog will do more for you then just about any other thing we can suggest.
Dogs will be very enthused about going for a walk every day, (which you need to do) and likely wont, but with the dog, i guarantee you will. They will remind you.

The overall well being generated by having a dog is not describable. Almost all benefit from the new addition and if you want to help somebody, that is sort of down, this is a sure bet.

Ah, you say, but I cannot afford a dog......

You can get a great well trained grown up (does not chew the place up like a pup, ) dog for free.

But you say you went to the animal shelter and they want $60. etc to adopt a dog, for various shots this and that...and I cannot afford that.

Here is what you do ......to get on totally free and sometimes will even come with all the accessories and as much as a month of free dog food.

if you are on the internet get on Craig’s list.( if your not on the net get a relative, a friend or the librarian to help you do this at the library.)
There are other local free classifieds on the net and some little newspapers, local radio shows etc run free classifieds.
However you do it, Craig’s list will get you many responses within hours, and is best bet. Others will work well too without spending a dime.
Here is what you say in your free ad...
Describe yourself....
Senior citizen in ..........area looking for a well trained dog, preferably under 5 years of age, to adopt and provide a good home and companionship. If you can no longer keep your dog and would like to find a good home for them, please give me a call, we may be a match. List your phone number.

There are always people moving away and cannot take their dog, going in the military, got laid off and/or have several dogs and can not afford them at the moment etc.

Be sure the dog is already trained, will walk well on a leash, and is small enough to not cost a bundle in food.
Now I have two dogs, both large, a Rottweiler and an Australian shepherd. Remember, you can feed them some table scraps, but you do not need a diabetic dog so no flour or sugar items and no chocolate...dogs can NOT handle chocolate.
I feed them mostly raw meat. Look at canned dog food and it is mostly (over half grain based) dogs are carnivorous. The dry dog food is no better but is less expensive.
My large dogs cost me under $1. a day each. to feed. I watch super market sales and often buy whole chickens, parts and never pay over $1.00 pound. Often as little as 57 cents a pound sometimes there is a limit of four or some such, but I just go back 3 days in a row and if they run out which they often do then I ask for a rain check.

That way I can come back on a non sale day and pick up more at the sale price. The result is my freezer compartment is usually full of chicken, pork, turkey etc. $1 a pound or under. All chickens I cut the bones a little with a knife with a saw bumps, cut meat off first and break the long bones in half. They eat every bit of the bones. Even large pork bones. Occasionally I will buy a large beef bone just for them to chew on and in a week or two it is gone.

Usually I will buy some beef heart and liver, often chicken livers to mix in extra. Also buy a 50 cent can of cat food, fish such as salmon once a week and split it. (higher protein then dog food)

Understand commercial dog food mostly grain based and what listed as meat is not meat usually at all but meat by products. such as chicken beaks, feet, etc. ground up.
Dead animals from dairies etc that died for various reasons several days dead are ground up in their entirety, cooked and sold to dog food manufacturers. That is as close as they get to meat....when listed as on the content label as meat, and even that is a small percentage.

Buying real meat is cheaper then most commercial dog food which is like paying $3. a pound for corn etc that sells for $4 a bushel, but remember....like you...they were not designed for grain. No wonder they are getting huge numbers of diabetic dogs and cats.

Remember, you have to watch for sales and buy your meat in quantity then.
